Carnegie Women

Carnegie Women are the reigning BUCS Champions 2010 – 2011. There are a number of players who played on last year’s winning team still with the team this year making the team one of the most exciting BUCS teams in the Premier North Competition. Ellie Shaxon, Nicolette Fong Lyew Quee, Rachael Bland, Lucy Uncles and Kendal James return for their second year with the team along with third year transfer Ruth Davison.

This year sees an influx of talented players onto the team both national and international. Greta Luksyte & LaKeisha Wright both studying for MBA (hons) in Executive Business Administration join the team having completed 4 year undergraduate courses at UNC Wilmington & Lafayette in the USA. This year also sees Erasmus student Fanny Tirtiaux join the team for the first semester. Notable British players returning to the team after a year out are former England Junior and Manchester native Lauren Quigley, fellow Mancunian Siobhan Collins and Steph Jones a former Barrow Thorn.

This year’s team also has a new Head Coach in the form of Liverpool born Nick Dawson. Coach Dawson takes his first senior coaching position having worked previously with various national league junior clubs and extensively on the National Teams pathway currently as England U16 Women Assistant Coach.

This year’s Premier North competition sees Carnegie face fellow EBL opponents Durham and Northumbria along with Loughborough, Sheffield Hallam and Edinburgh Universities.
